Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the festival held, and what are the performance spaces?
The festival is hosted at the Regent Theatre in Richmond (145 Windsor Street). The venue operates two distinct spaces:

  • Main Theatre: Hosts full-scale illusion shows, family productions, mentalism, and the festival showcases.
  • Close-Up Space: A dedicated, ultra-intimate setting tailored for sleight-of-hand, card work, and parlor magic where audiences sit mere feet away from the performer.

I purchased tickets but haven’t received them. What should I do?
First, check your spam or junk email folder, as automated confirmation emails with digital PDF tickets can occasionally be filtered. If you still cannot locate your confirmation:

  • Send an email to the festival ticketing team with your full name, show title, session date/time, and the email address used at purchase.
  • The team can verify your transaction and instantly re-issue your tickets or have your name added directly to the door list for check-in on arrival.

How does the festival work with artists?
The Sydney Festival of Magic functions as an umbrella arts platform. All featured magicians, mentalists, and illusionists are independent artists presenting their own bespoke productions. When you buy a ticket to a specific session, you are directly supporting that individual performer’s independent work.

Do I buy one pass for everything or tickets to individual shows?
Shows are ticketed separately, allowing you to curate your own schedule. You can drop in for a single afternoon performance or line up back-to-back shows across the Close-Up room and the Main Theatre throughout the day.

When should I arrive before a performance?
Plan to arrive 15–20 minutes prior to your ticketed start time. Due to the interactive nature of magic and the tight layout of close-up spaces, late seating cannot always be accommodated once a routine is underway.

Is seating allocated??
No. Seating is general admission, so there are no assigned seat numbers.
